Ronald Houston is a Cincinnati-based author, writer, screenwriter, and ghostwriter dedicated to inspiring aspiring writers to transform their ideas into published works. As the owner of GorillaWorks Limited, Ronald provides guidance and resources to help individuals pursue their creative goals, whether through books, screenplays, or web content. His own writing journey began while working as a mixologist, when observing the people and conversations around him sparked the realization that he could turn those experiences into stories.
Ronald has built a diverse writing portfolio that includes eight books, short stories, novels, screenplays, and ghostwriting projects. His first collection, Tales From the Satellite, became a local bestseller within its first month, followed by The Devastation of Mr. Drake, which gained strong book club support. His screenplay Shade of the Sun was selected for the KinoDrome International Motion Picture & Screenplay Festival and received second-place recognition in its category. He has also supported other authors in bringing their personal journeys to life, including helping author John Nkata tell his story of moving from Malawi to America.
Before pursuing writing full-time, Ronald spent more than 30 years in the chemical field, developing experience in chemical operations, hazardous waste handling, environmental chemistry, and biodiesel technology before retiring from the industry. Educated in organic chemistry and certified as a mixologist and TAM professional, he brings a distinctive perspective shaped by science, observation, creativity, and interpersonal communication. Through GorillaWorks Limited, Ronald continues to use his storytelling expertise to help others pursue authorship while also sharing his insights as an experienced radio and media guest known for his articulate and humorous style.

    What do you attribute your success to?

    I attribute my success to my ability to observe, create, and make decisive choices. I believe in standing firmly by my decisions—when I say no, I mean no, and when I say yes, I honor my commitment, even if I make a mistake.

    What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

    The best career advice I’ve received is to carry yourself with confidence and act as though you have it figured out, even when you don’t. Confidence can help you navigate challenges and grow into the role.

    What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?

    I would encourage young men to find an environment where they feel comfortable and productive. If you’re unsure of your passion or direction, ask yourself before bed, “In a perfect world, what would my life look like?” Be honest with yourself, and don’t let self-doubt or limiting beliefs get in your way.

    What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

    The biggest challenge for me right now is time. Staying focused and managing distractions are essential, as I value using my time productively and staying focused on what matters most.

    What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

    The values most important to me are authenticity, purpose, and intentionality. I remind myself that everything is temporary, so I focus on the direction I want my life to take, stay true to who I am, and focus on how I can get where I want to be.
