Jesston Williams is the Executive Director of Tangelic, an institutional vehicle engineered to scale decentralized climate infrastructure, clean energy access, and capital alignment strategies across high-growth African markets. Leveraging more than 20 years of multidisciplinary operational leadership spanning finance, the health sector and clean energy, he specializes in converting complex sustainability concepts into investment-grade, bankable infrastructure solutions. At Tangelic, Jesston orchestrates cross-border operations and directs the architecture of Sunrise Spectrum in Ghana. This flagship, multi-tier infrastructure framework unifies decentralized solar energy deployment, clean thermal energy technology, and commercial economic models. By aligning public-sector frameworks, development finance institutions (DFIs), private equity, and institutional investors, Jesston has successfully advanced Sunrise Spectrum to active field execution, establishing scalable energy portfolios across northern Ghana.

What do you attribute your success to?

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My mentor, Dr. Justin Dargin, gave me three simple rules: stay true to yourself, stay resilient, and stay curious. Those words have carried me through every major change in my life. You will face setbacks. Plans will fall apart. But if you stay grounded, keep learning, and hold onto who you are, you will always find a way forward.

What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?
Clean energy and sustainable development are fields where progress demands patience. Plans will shift, and moving a great idea from paper to reality requires relentless persistence. Never stop learning, cultivate deep relationships, and take the next step even when the entire horizon isn't visible. Rejection is part of the process—never let it convince you that you are on the wrong path. Stand firm in what you believe, but remain humble enough to learn from others. Ultimately, your reputation, your character, and your ability to follow through will carry you much further than any title ever could.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Africa’s energy transition has no shortage of visionaries. The real bottleneck is translating bold blueprints into functioning, bankable assets. Securing capital, aligning stakeholders, and maintaining operational agility when challenges arise is a daunting task. Yet, that friction is precisely where the opportunity lies. Future market leaders won't just be the ones with the best ideas—they will be the catalysts who successfully bridge capital, local knowledge, technology, and flawless execution.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I believe that true success is built on two unshakeable pillars: integrity and ownership. To me, leadership means standing firmly behind your word, taking absolute responsibility for your outcomes, and treating people exceptionally well along the way.While I am deeply committed to my work, I refuse to let a career define my entire identity. My family is my anchor, keeping me grounded in what matters most. Beyond the next meeting, I actively pursue a life of balance and curiosity, whether that means staying fit, exploring the outdoors, traveling, cooking, or reconnecting with a great book. These pursuits aren't just hobbies; they are the practices that keep me balanced, intentional, and connected to life's bigger picture.
