Automotive Technology Instructor, Northwest Florida State College
Jeremy Craft is an experienced automotive professional and Automotive Technology Instructor at Northwest Florida State College, where he is dedicated to preparing the next generation of skilled automotive technicians. His career began through a non-traditional educational path, earning his GED and building his expertise through years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry. Over an 18-year career as a General Motors Master Technician and ASE-certified technician, Jeremy developed extensive knowledge in engine repair, brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, HVAC, and advanced vehicle diagnostics. His professional accomplishments include GM Master certification, ASE certifications, and NC3 certifications through Snap-on as an instructor. After nearly two decades in the automotive field, Jeremy made the transition from technician to educator after recognizing a growing shortage of young people entering the profession. Encouraged by a mentor from his dealership career, he discovered an opportunity to combine his technical expertise with his passion for helping others. At Northwest Florida State College, Jeremy emphasizes hands-on learning, giving students direct experience working on live vehicles while also maintaining and repairing campus and facility vehicles. His goal is to transform complex automotive concepts into practical skills that students can apply immediately, while building the confidence, problem-solving abilities, and technical competence required for successful careers in the industry. Jeremy is also passionate about strengthening the connection between automotive education and the industry it serves. He believes the technician shortage represents both a significant challenge and an opportunity, particularly as rapid advances in automotive technology continue to create demand for highly trained professionals. He advocates for better communication between technicians, customers, manufacturers, and educators and is actively involved in efforts to strengthen industry partnerships, improve curriculum, and expand hands-on training resources. Through perseverance, mentorship, professional certifications, and years of real-world experience, Jeremy has built a career that reflects his commitment to both automotive excellence and education—and takes particular pride in reaching the professor level by becoming a college instructor through experience, hard work, and a genuine passion for helping others succeed.
