FOUNDER TO THE PROFILE
Senior HSE Director, FLUOR
““Let’s build something safer, smarter, and stronger, together.””
IN HIS OWN WORDS
I firmly believe that my Christian faith is the foundation of everything I’ve accomplished. My journey has been shaped by grit, courage, hard work, and a commitment to faithful stewardship of the opportunities God has placed before me. I don’t attribute my success to luck, but to faith, perseverance, and a willingness to do the work. That is my testimony.
Never allow a job to cost you your marriage, your health, or your life. No career, title, or paycheck is worth losing what matters most. I’ve learned that we should work to live, not live to work. Success means very little if we sacrifice our families, our health, and the moments we can never get back.
If you want to be successful in the HSE profession, I believe four things are essential: passion, experience, education, and certifications. Passion gives you purpose, experience builds your judgment, education strengthens your understanding, and certifications validate your expertise. Together, these four pillars establish the foundation for credibility, effective leadership, and long-term success.
One of the greatest challenges facing our industry is the growing shortage of experienced, skilled tradespeople. The rapid expansion of data centers, semiconductor facilities, and large-scale mining projects is stretching an already limited workforce. At the same time, younger generations often enter the workforce with a higher tolerance for risk but fewer firsthand experiences with the consequences of unsafe decisions. Many haven't learned those lessons through everyday experiences, like climbing trees, falling, and understanding consequences.
My values are built on three principles: Humble, Hungry, and Wise.
Humble: Put the team before yourself. True leadership is about serving others, setting aside ego, and doing what's best for the people you lead.
Hungry: Maintain a growth mindset. Never stop learning, improving, or challenging yourself. Success requires grit, courage, discipline, and a willingness to work hard.
Wise: Make decisions where the heart and mind are in agreement. Balance compassion with sound judgment, emotional intelligence with critical thinking, and always strive to do what's right, even when it's difficult.
