FOUNDER TO THE PROFILE
Benjamin Thomas Brown
Night Lead, Alpine School District
“I'd attribute it to my parents and how I was raised. They raised me to be honest and a hard worker. Next is adaptability. I don't think I'd be where I am if it weren't for the mistakes of my predecessors, mistakes I've made, and the advice I've been given. And then I'd also say the friends and family who have supported me along the way.”
About
Benjamin Brown is the Night Lead at Lone Peak High School within Alpine School District in Utah, where he oversees nightly facility operations and helps maintain safe, clean, and welcoming environments for students, staff, and visitors. Having advanced through the ranks over nearly five years with the district, he began as a Sweeper before progressing to Head Sweeper, Night Contract worker, and ultimately Night Lead in October 2025. In his current role, Brown manages the night crew, coordinates events, rentals, and school programs, and ensures that facility maintenance and repairs within his capabilities are completed efficiently. His responsibilities also include staff training, safety inspections, equipment maintenance, inventory management, event setup and takedown, and securing the building after hours. His progression reflects his adaptability, strong work ethic, and commitment to taking pride in his work. Brown is currently studying Vocal Performance at Utah Valley University (UVU), where he received a part-time scholarship to pursue classical vocal performance after completing concurrent enrollment courses during high school. He has also participated in Opera Workshop, developing his musical abilities alongside his professional responsibilities. He earned his High School Diploma from Lone Peak High School and holds certificates in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, and other Adobe applications. In addition to his facilities leadership experience, Brown previously worked as an Automotive Technician at Burt Brothers Tire & Service, gaining hands-on experience with tire changes, oil changes, fluid flushes, and flat-tire repairs. His diverse background has strengthened his technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to different responsibilities. Beyond his professional and academic pursuits, Brown has demonstrated a commitment to humanitarian service through his volunteer work with CHOICE Humanitarian. In 2018, he participated in an initiative in Kenya that involved helping build a school and supporting efforts to expand education and provide care in local villages. He is also a member of the National Rifle Association. Brown attributes his success to his upbringing, his ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and the encouragement of his friends and family. He places a strong emphasis on clear communication, reliability, and taking pride in the quality of his work. By combining leadership in facilities operations with his passion for classical music and dedication to service, Brown continues to build a well-rounded professional and personal foundation.

The Q and A
-
01
What do you attribute your success to?
I'd attribute it to my parents and how I was raised. They raised me to be honest and a hard worker. Next is adaptability. I don't think I'd be where I am if it weren't for the mistakes of my predecessors, mistakes I've made, and the advice I've been given. And then I'd also say the friends and family who have supported me along the way.

02
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I ask myself the question: If I were to apply for my current position, would I be hired for the same position, or have I gotten too lazy to even be considered? So I work my current position as if it's my last day. I try to put in 110% effort. Communication is vital. Miscommunication can lead to mistakes. It can lead to career-ending choices.

03
What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?
Work is hard, and there are some days when you may say, "This isn't for me," but that's just your tiredness talking. You'll wake up the next day, and you'll be proud of what you did. Be strong, no matter the challenges. As my grandma has told me, "We can do hard things."
-
04
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are lack of appreciation for the work younger workers do, as people apply expectations from the experienced older generation to new workers, and compensation issues. The opportunity is that entry-level positions serve as a gateway to higher positions in various industries, such as tech, construction, finance, and housing, even if you start without a degree.

05
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Communication is vital. A friendly, professional attitude is important because, while you're representing your company, you are the face of your company. Don't half-ass your work. Everything you do, you're putting your name on. Take pride in it.
