Resilience, Relationships and Doing Business the Right Way

Success in sales rarely comes from one big break. More often, it comes from consistency, resilience, and the ability to build relationships that last.

Those principles have played a major role throughout my career.

I’ve always believed that you can’t give up or simply walk away when something doesn’t go your way. You have to keep finding a way to earn someone’s business. And once you earn it, the work doesn’t stop. You have to continue taking care of that customer because there is always someone else knocking on the door.

Some of the best career advice I’ve received is also some of the simplest: work hard and good things happen. Be a people person. Be a good listener. Surround yourself with talented people, learn everything you can from them, absorb it, and then take that knowledge and run with it.

That same philosophy is what I would pass along to younger people considering a career in sales. Sales certainly isn’t for everyone, and it can be frustrating, but there is something exciting about having an uncapped opportunity where your results are largely driven by your own effort. Be yourself, be personable, and start building your network early. Strong relationships take time to develop.

In the digital cutting industry, competition and pricing continue to be significant challenges. At the same time, some of the greatest opportunities are coming from industrial markets beyond traditional graphics. Automotive, gasket manufacturing, carbon fiber, composites, and countless other materials can now benefit from digital cutting technology, opening the door to entirely new applications and customers.

Through all of it, the values that matter most to me remain honesty and integrity.

Respect isn’t something you are automatically given. You earn it through how you treat people, how you conduct business, and how you show up every day.
