Master One Skill. Then Apply.

Most men who want a new career collect tools. Nine logos. Three platforms. A course they never finish. Then they wonder why nobody calls back.

I have spent more than 21 years at the Postal Service, from carrier to field maintenance supervisor. I served in the Air National Guard. I now run Zarco AI Systems LLC and a small school, Genesis ITU. The rule that holds in all three places is the same: master one skill, then use it on a real ticket, then apply.

A help-desk seat does not start with a poster of AI tools. It starts with a person who can explain what broke, what they tried, and what they would do next. Cyber, cloud, and AI at work are the same shape. The name of the cert changes. The habit does not.

I am not self-made. My father, Gene DeLong, taught me to show up and take care of the people on the floor. My mother, Diana, carried the prayers and the spiritual leadership of the house. My wife, Megan, stands with the work. My mentor, Antonio Shaw, keeps me pointed. Faith is why the classroom stays clean. It is not a marketing layer.

If you are stuck, do not buy another list. Pick one next skill. Sit down. Finish the chapter. Apply when you can talk through the work, not the night you buy a login.

That is the door I built. Five questions. One first cert. $29. genesis-itu.com/network/path-finder
