For more than 15 years, my professional life has been defined by service. I began my law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, later served as a Maine State Trooper, spent more than seven years as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and today continue my career in federal law enforcement.
Throughout that journey, I began recognizing something that eventually led me in an entirely new direction: the people behind the badge had stories that weren't being told.
That realization became the foundation for Street Tales Network.
I founded Street Tales Network in 2024 as a platform for authentic conversations about law enforcement and the experiences that shape the people who serve. What began with podcasting has grown into something much larger: multiple shows, publishing, documentary development, public speaking, charitable partnerships, and storytelling centered around first responders, veterans, leadership, resilience, and the human experience.
Through the Street Tales Podcast and Fifty Sixin Podcast, I've had the privilege of sitting down with people from different backgrounds and having conversations that go beyond titles and résumés. We talk about success and failure, trauma and resilience, leadership and family, career transitions, wellness, purpose, and the moments that fundamentally change our lives.
That same philosophy eventually carried into publishing. I authored Street Tales, Volume One, allowing us to preserve stories from the podcast in another form. More recently, I had the opportunity to curate The Weight of Responsibility: Leadership Lessons from a Marine Sergeant Major, capturing the experiences and leadership lessons of retired Marine Sergeant Major Dave Devaney.
But for me, building Street Tales Network has never simply been about producing content.
It's about creating something meaningful.
My definition of success has changed significantly over the years. Earlier in my life, I probably measured success through professional advancement, income, titles, or whatever opportunity came next.
Today, I measure it differently.
I think about my relationship with my children. I think about the people I surround myself with. I think about the stories I've helped preserve, the relationships I've built, and whether I can use the opportunities I've been given to create opportunities for someone else.
That philosophy also drives Street Tales Network's commitment to organizations such as Blue Cancer Connect and other initiatives supporting first responders and veterans. I believe having a platform means very little if you're unwilling to use it in service of something beyond yourself.
Many of those values were instilled in me long before I entered law enforcement. I was raised by two parents who served in the Marine Corps, and honesty, integrity, and loyalty were part of my foundation from an early age. Those values have followed me through law enforcement, entrepreneurship, fatherhood, and life.
My journey has also taught me that ambition requires perspective.
One of the most consequential decisions I ever made was leaving the United States Secret Service to be closer to my children. I had spent years chasing professional opportunities and, at times, chasing the dollar. Walking away changed the trajectory of my career, but it reinforced something I believe strongly today:
Your career should support the life you want to build, not become a substitute for it.
When I look at my relationship with my children today, I know I made the right decision for me.
I continue to serve in federal law enforcement while building Street Tales Network, writing, speaking, developing new media projects, and connecting communities that often share similar experiences but don't always have opportunities to hear one another.
Through all of it, I've found that one principle continues to surface:
Show up.
Show up for your family.
Show up for the people who trusted you.
Show up when somebody needs help.
Keep your word. Build genuine relationships. Treat people well when there's nothing to gain from doing so. And when you find yourself in a position to open a door for someone else, open it.
I'm proud of what we've built with Street Tales Network, but I don't feel like I've arrived. I'm still learning, still evolving, and still figuring out what this can ultimately become.
For me, the next chapter isn't simply about making Street Tales Network bigger.
It's about making it more meaningful.
Because after more than 15 years in law enforcement and countless conversations through Street Tales, one thing has become very clear to me:
Behind every badge, uniform, title, accomplishment, and career is something far more important: a human story worth understanding.
