“I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and a refusal to quit. I've rebuilt more than once, and every time the formula was the same: get honest about where you are, set a clear goal, and do the work every day — especially on the days you don't feel like it. Surrounding myself with good people and never stopping learning carried me the rest of the way.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

The Q and A

  1. 01

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and a refusal to quit. I've rebuilt more than once, and every time the formula was the same: get honest about where you are, set a clear goal, and do the work every day — especially on the days you don't feel like it. Surrounding myself with good people and never stopping learning carried me the rest of the way.

  2. 02

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was simple: your word is your bond. Do what you say you're going to do, when you say you're going to do it. In construction and in coaching, trust is the whole business — people may forget your price, but they never forget whether you showed up and followed through.

  3. 03

What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?

Start with integrity and master your craft. Learn everything you can — I hold 22 certifications and I'm still studying — but knowledge without character won't carry you. Show up early, keep your word, take care of your clients and your crew, and don't chase shortcuts. Build a name people trust and the work will follow.

  4. 04

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in coaching right now is cutting through the noise — there's a lot of quick-fix advice out there with no accountability behind it. The opportunity is just as big: more people than ever are asking for real help with recovery, mindset, and direction, and they want coaches with real training and real life experience behind them.

  5. 05

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, integrity, and service. My faith keeps me grounded, integrity governs how I do business — honest work, honest words — and service is the purpose behind it all. I volunteer with Alcoholics Anonymous because giving back to the recovery community matters to me. If my work doesn't help people take real steps forward, it's not worth doing.
