IN HIS OWN WORDS
I attribute my success to consistency, accountability, and a willingness to keep learning. I’ve always believed that strong results come from setting high standards, taking ownership of outcomes, and finding ways to improve both myself and the people around me.
A big part of my success has also come from leadership. I focus on developing my team, improving performance, solving problems before they become bigger issues, and creating an environment where people understand what is expected of them. I’m not afraid to adapt, learn new skills, or take on challenges outside of my comfort zone.
Most importantly, I stay focused on growth. Whether it’s operations, leadership, real estate, or continuing my education, I’m always looking for ways to become more knowledgeable, more effective, and better prepared for the next opportunity.
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to manage your time before your time manages you. I’ve learned that being busy doesn’t always mean being productive. The key is knowing how to prioritize what matters most, stay organized, and focus your energy on the things that have the greatest impact.
Good time management has helped me become a stronger leader because it allows me to stay ahead of deadlines, make better decisions, and still be available to support my team. At the end of the day, everyone has the same 24 hours—it’s how you use them that makes the difference.
My advice to young men entering this industry would be to take pride in your work, stay coachable, and understand that your reputation is built by what you do consistently. Show up on time, be willing to learn, ask questions, and never think you’re above the small details because those details are often what separate good employees from great ones.
I would also tell them to focus on safety, communication, and accountability. This industry can open a lot of doors, but you have to be dependable and willing to put in the work. Learn as much as you can, build strong relationships, and always look for ways to grow beyond your current position.
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is keeping up with the increasing demand for utility locating while maintaining a high level of accuracy, safety, and quality. As construction and infrastructure projects continue to grow, teams are being asked to handle more work without allowing safety or quality to suffer.
At the same time, I see that as one of our biggest opportunities. Technology, better mapping, stronger training, and improved communication are giving us new ways to prevent damages and work more efficiently. I believe the companies and leaders who invest in their people, embrace technology, and continue improving their processes will be the ones that lead the industry forward.
The values that are most important to me are integrity, accountability, discipline, and respect. I believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching, taking ownership of my decisions, and following through on what I say I’m going to do.
In both my work and personal life, I also value continuous growth. I always want to keep learning, improving, and becoming a better leader and person. I try to treat people with respect, lead by example, and make sure my actions reflect the standards I expect from others.
