About

**David Mendonca** is a pastor, leader, mentor, fatherhood advocate, and co-founder and Executive Director of The Show Up Dad Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families through father engagement. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, David is passionate about helping fathers recognize that their role extends far beyond being a financial provider. Through his ministry, coaching, public speaking, and The Show Up Dad Podcast, he encourages men to discover their purpose, embrace responsibility, and become more present, engaged, and intentional fathers.
David brings more than a decade of experience in the electrical industry, including his work as a Journeyman Lineman and instructor, where he trained and mentored the next generation of skilled electrical professionals. His background in leadership, coaching, teaching, and workforce development has shaped his practical approach to helping men grow both personally and professionally. He has also completed discipleship training focused on Christian foundational truths, marriage, parenting, and family ministry, and has received suicide-prevention training through LivingWorks. These experiences have strengthened his commitment to creating meaningful conversations around fatherhood, manhood, mental health, purpose, and personal growth.
At the heart of David’s work is a simple but powerful conviction: **children and families need fathers who are willing to show up.** Through The Show Up Dad Foundation, David works to educate and equip hard-working dads to become more than a paycheck or provider—to become engaged fathers, mentors, leaders, and positive influences in the lives of their children. Whether speaking to a community, mentoring a father, training leaders, or hosting a podcast conversation, David seeks to ignite a greater commitment to father engagement and help build stronger families and healthier communities for generations to come.

    What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?

    My advice to a young man entering the industry is to **stay humble, work hard, and remain consistent**. Trust God’s guidance, seek His wisdom, and allow His grace to carry you through challenges. Show up prepared, treat people with respect, stay teachable, and never compromise your character for success. Your reputation, integrity, and willingness to serve will take you further than talent alone.

    What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

    The biggest challenges in the lineman field right now are maintaining safety, meeting the growing demand for reliable power, adapting to grid modernization, and responding to increasingly severe weather. The industry also faces a shortage of skilled workers, making mentorship and training more important than ever. Through these challenges, I rely on God’s guidance and grace to stay focused, protect my crew, serve my community, and continue growing both professionally and personally.     What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

    The most important value in my work and career is **integrity**. I believe in showing up, working safely, keeping my word, and treating others with respect. Guided by God’s wisdom and strengthened by His grace, I strive to serve my team, my community, and the lineman profession with humility, dedication, and purpose.
