About
Norman I. Graham | Service, Leadership & Community Engagement
Norman I. Graham is a higher education professional, entrepreneur, fraternity leader, and community advocate whose commitment to service extends beyond his professional responsibilities and into the communities he serves. Since 2016, he has worked in higher education admissions, helping students navigate college applications, academic major selection, and document evaluations. His approach to service is rooted in the belief that people thrive when they have access to information, encouragement, and someone willing to help them identify their next steps.
A proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. since 2011, Norman views leadership as a responsibility to uplift others, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for meaningful growth. His fraternity involvement has included serving as an Area Director, coordinating communication and collaboration among chapters, supporting organizational accountability, and helping guide chapter programming and operations. He has also contributed to initiatives focused on financial literacy for middle and high school students, recognizing that equipping young people with practical knowledge can help them make more informed decisions about their futures. For Norman, fraternity membership is more than an affiliation; it is an opportunity to put the principles of leadership, scholarship, and service into action.
His commitment to developing others also informs his involvement with Toastmasters International, where he served as Vice President of Education and Vice President of Public Relations from 2023 to 2024. In these leadership roles, he supported members in strengthening their public speaking and leadership abilities, helped guide educational programming, and worked to increase club visibility and engagement. These experiences reflect his appreciation for effective communication—not simply as a professional skill, but as a tool for building confidence, sharing knowledge, and helping people find their voices. Whether encouraging someone to speak with greater confidence or helping a team communicate more effectively, Norman understands that strong leadership begins with the ability to listen, connect, and communicate with purpose.
Philanthropy has been another consistent expression of his service-oriented approach. Norman has held team leadership and fundraising responsibilities with the March of Dimes and breast cancer walk initiatives, volunteered with AIDS Walk New York, and served as a March of Dimes coordinator for the ONECA District. His contributions have included organizing participation, communicating with volunteers, developing fundraising strategies, and fostering relationships that encourage people to support shared causes. These experiences have reinforced his belief that community impact is rarely the work of one person; it grows when people organize around a common purpose and follow through on their commitments.
Norman's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University at Albany and a master's degree in criminal justice, with a concentration in victimology, from the University of New Haven. He also holds a Certificate in Victim Advocacy and Service Management. This foundation complements his interest in communication, advocacy, education, and the ways individuals and communities can be better supported.
Alongside his service and leadership activities, Norman operates Notarize With Norm, a mobile notary and document services business, and Wed By Norm, where he officiates personalized wedding ceremonies. He is also involved with Graham Family Signing Service, extending his professional focus to collaboration and opportunities for other signing professionals. Across these endeavors, he brings the same people-first mindset that informs his community work: listen carefully, communicate clearly, respect each person's circumstances, and approach every responsibility with integrity.
Driven by personal growth, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a desire to make a meaningful contribution, Norman continues to pursue opportunities that allow him to serve, lead, and connect people with resources and possibilities. His work reflects a philosophy that is both practical and personal: leadership is demonstrated through action, communication is most powerful when it empowers others, and service matters most when it leaves people and communities better positioned for what comes next.

IN HIS OWN WORDS
The Q and A
-
01
What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my drive to build the life I envision for myself, my love of travel, and my determination to keep growing personally and professionally. With the economy constantly changing, I understand the importance of being financially mindful, adaptable, and intentional about my decisions. As I get older, I’m increasingly conscious that the choices I make today shape my future, which motivates me to think strategically, take calculated risks, and learn from setbacks. Ultimately, my success comes from wanting more for myself while being willing to put in the work to make it happen.

Stay consistent. Consistency actually gets you to where you need to be.

03
What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?
Know what you love and what you don't love. Don't be afraid to try something new but know when it's time to tap out. It's okay to switch paths if needed. Don't switch for everything at the first scrape.

04
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include people not being original and copying others, lack of ethics and boundaries, and needing to provide more hand-holding and nurturing in higher education and weddings. Opportunities include meeting people from different walks of life, helping clients close on dream homes, handle important documents, and make wedding dreams come true, plus professional and personal growth through higher education.
