About
Dr. Leroy Ainsworth Sewell is an experienced pastor, chaplain, educator, and author with more than three decades of experience in spiritual leadership and pastoral ministry. His professional journey began in Jamaica, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1995 and served as a pastor while also teaching as an adjunct professor at a university for four years. Driven by a commitment to faith, education, and service, Sewell continued his theological studies and completed a master's degree in pastoral theology in 2006. His ministry later took him to the Bahamas before he relocated to the United States in 2011, where he continued expanding his work in pastoral care and community service.
Since June 2014, Sewell has served as a senior pastor with the Georgia-Cumberland Conference, providing spiritual guidance, supporting congregations, and promoting responsible leadership within the church. His experience also includes serving as a hospital chaplain, police chaplain, and volunteer chaplain with the U.S. Air Force, allowing him to support individuals and communities across a variety of settings. In August 2026, he graduated from Andrews University with a Doctor of Ministry degree focused on organizational leadership. His doctoral research examined how church boards can address abuses of power by church officers, reflecting his dedication to accountability, ethical leadership, and strengthening institutional integrity within religious organizations.
Beyond his pastoral responsibilities, Sewell is an author who published *Faith Beyond Algorithm*, exploring themes related to faith and the modern world. Through his ministry, writing, and leadership, he encourages thoughtful reflection on the relationship between spirituality, responsibility, and society. His professional interests include addressing ethical challenges in church governance, fostering trust within faith communities, and helping leaders recognize the importance of humility and accountability. Drawing on decades of pastoral experience and advanced theological education, Sewell remains committed to serving others, supporting spiritual growth, and promoting leadership grounded in faith, wisdom, and integrity.
