Joshua Mcarthur

Joshua McArthur serves as a Traffic Management Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZTL), the world’s busiest air traffic control facilities. He has dedicated his entire 18-year career to the FAA, where he plays a critical role in managing the flow of air traffic throughout the National Airspace System. As a Traffic Management Controller, Mr. McArthur serves as a capacity filter, helping mitigate delays, weather-related reroutes, traffic constraints, and other operational disruptions. He also supports complex special events, including the Masters Tournament in Augusta, as well as VIP movements involving presidential and military operations throughout the National Aerospace System. Mr. McArthur’s responsibilities extend to specialized traffic management and event coordination, where he serves as a Subject Matter Expert for special events and collaborates with airlines and other aviation stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient operations. His expertise encompasses air traffic management, capacity planning, operational coordination, special-event planning, delay and volume midmitigation. He holds both a pilot’s license and an air traffic control license, providing him with valuable insight into aviation operations from multiple perspectives. His professional strengths include critical thinking, complex problem solving, aviation safety, logistics, and the effective management of high-pressure operational environments. Mr. McArthur began his higher education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before transferring to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), where he earned a B.S. in Aerospace Administration. He coumtinued his education at MTSU to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management. He is an active member of NATCA, his professional union, and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, reflecting his interest and involvement in construction and home renovation outside of his aviation career. Through his extensive FAA experience, specialized aviation expertise, and commitment to continuous learning, Mr. McArthur has established himself as a knowledgeable and highly capable professional in air traffic and traffic management.
