Joseph Eaton is a longtime public servant and community leader in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, currently serving as a County Commissioner for Lawrence County Government. He has dedicated much of his career to public safety and local government, including more than 25 years with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department, where he progressed from firefighter and driver/engineer to training officer, lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, and ultimately battalion chief. His extensive experience in emergency response, incident command, and team leadership has helped shape his approach to serving the community.
Eaton combines his public-service experience with a strong commitment to education and professional development. He earned a bachelor's degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and has pursued additional training in leadership and project management. He is also a Certified County Finance Officer and has emphasized continuous learning as an important part of being an effective servant to the citizens of Lawrence County. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Eaton has remained deeply involved in his community. He has served as a County Commissioner since 2014 and has participated in the Tennessee County Commission Association's Veterans Committee, reflecting his continued connection to public service and veterans' issues. He has also volunteered as a coach for the Lawrence County High School shooting team. Eaton describes his leadership philosophy as being centered on helping Lawrence County grow, empowering people, listening to citizens, and creating a positive atmosphere.
