The Q and A
-
01
What do you attribute your success to?
Parental values and the sacrifices my parents made were instrumental in my upbringing. I also served in the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps for about five and a half years, which was an important part of my life.

02
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
When changing positions, make sure you are going to something rather than from something. When tackling projects, go deep rather than broad - go an inch wide and a mile deep. Focus on a few select things instead of doing multiple things in a half-baked way.
-
03
What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?
Adhere to values and the mission of the organization. Cultivate essential skills: problem solving, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, conflict management, and adaptability.
-
04
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It is a very competitive field with competing values for time, making juggling and finding balance a huge challenge. AI is polarizing in higher education with some wanting to go back to pre-internet times, but it offers opportunities if used for good like in cancer care and making education accessible.

05
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith, family, and humanity are most important. Just being kind to others is key.
