About

John Clark is a writer, author, and musician based in Granger, Washington, who has spent more than 25 years using writing to encourage, inform, and inspire others. After working in education and music, Clark began his writing career at age 50 and has since built an extensive body of work focused on Christian faith, biblical topics, emotional challenges, and finding purpose in life. In April 2026, he launched Hope Worth Finding, a website ministry dedicated to helping people discover hope through God, with a blog connected to Medium where he continues to publish his articles. His previous writing includes more than 1,000 articles across two websites, generating more than 2 million combined views, including more than 1 million views during a 10-year period as a freelance writer.
Clark is also a published author and poet. His books include *God's Healing Hope: Breaking the Strongholds of Wrong Thinking*, which addresses the emotional and thought patterns that can hold people back, and *Seniors, Are You Retiring Or Recharging?*, which encourages older adults to approach retirement with purpose and renewed perspective. Three of his poems have also been published by Eber & Wein, and his poem *Poem for Senior Citizens* has received recognition on FaithWriters. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in music from San Diego State University and a master's degree in Church Music Ministry from Western Seminary. Music has been a lifelong part of Clark's identity; he began playing trumpet in fifth grade and has also directed church choirs.
Throughout his writing career, Clark has remained motivated by passion and a clear sense of purpose. He believes success comes from having a strong “why”—a meaningful reason to continue pursuing your work even when obstacles arise. His writing reflects that philosophy, with an emphasis on messages of faith, hope, healing, purpose, and personal growth rather than simply pursuing recognition or financial reward. Clark encourages aspiring writers to be patient and realistic about the financial side of the profession, especially in the beginning, while maintaining a strong sense of purpose. He believes that when writing a book, the message should be more important than the money, and that a meaningful purpose can provide the motivation needed to keep moving forward.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

The Q and A

  1. 01

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to having a passion for what I do and a good why. The why we do things is more important than what we do because if we have a good why, it's going to keep us moving forward in spite of obstacles.

  2. 02

What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?

Don't expect a lot of money from it at first. Make sure you have a good why, a reason for what you're doing. If planning on writing a book, expect it to consume you mentally. The message you want to get out has to be more important than the money.

  3. 03

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The big challenge is publishing books and getting them out to the public. Opportunities include writing for magazines, newspapers, websites, and not limiting yourself to just books.
