Gopichand Mannava is the Chief Data and AI Architect for the State of Connecticut in Hartford, a role he has held for more than a decade.     What do you attribute your success to?

    My success is always the same. Consistency is very important. Never give up. Consistency is very, very important. So always consistently learn something, consistently do the things. So nothing will come overnight. So you have to do consistent hard work. Consistence hard work only will put you in the successful manner.

    What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

    Never stop learning, keep on growing. Keep continuous to learn and continue to grow all the way. That is the best career advice I got from my previous CIO. His name is Adel. ... If you have the knowledge, if you keep on learning continuously. If you have the knowledge, nobody can stop you. So knowledge is divine.

    What advice would you give to young men entering your industry?

    Never look for the easy things, or never go for the shortcuts. Do the hard work, learn from the basics. ... Be consistent in learning, never give up. So learn consistently, learn daily, keep on updating yourself. And know everything from the ground level, so basic foundations are very, very important.

    What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

    My field is very, like, booming field right now. Especially with this era. ... There is a huge opportunities are there. Especially the data foundations, like building the data warehousing systems, data models. Like, data modeling, data governance, data security, so data lineages, so completely data-related, so there are huge opportunities out there. And definitely, this is the building block for the entire AI systems.

    What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

    Work ethics, so those are very important. Be good with everyone, be a teammate. Try to be encourage everyone, try to be good with everyone, try to share the knowledge. Try to make, like, improve your bring the new technologies to your project, like, at workplace and all. ... Be honest, and be posture-minded, and be a teammate, a team guy. Teamwork is always the best, so one person cannot do anything, no one can one person cannot launch a rocket. So entire team has to struggle, like, entire team has to work together.
