Employment Discrimination Investigator, NC Department of Labor
Ed Brooks is an Employment Discrimination Investigator with the North Carolina Department of Labor, where he works in the Retaliation Employment Bureau investigating complaints of job retaliation. His responsibilities include examining cases involving workman's compensation retaliation, domestic violence 50B orders, and occupational health and safety complaints. Prior to this position, he retired from the Chapel Hill Police Department after 30 years as a law enforcement supervisor and later assisted high school football players with college recruitment for approximately 20 years. Ed Brooks earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, in May 1984, and pursued graduate work in public administration at North Carolina State University in Raleigh from 1999 to 2000. He was inducted into the NC Barbell Hall of Fame in 2007. He was inducted into the AAU International Strength Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 for his achievements in competitive powerlifting. He was inducted into the NC Powerlifting & Strength Hall of Fame in 2022. NC Central University E-Varsity Club Member. Former Collegiate Basketball Player.
