Bob Brammer

Bob Brammer serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Durango, Colorado, a position he assumed in April 2024 after more than five years as the city’s Chief of Police. In his current role, he provides leadership across several municipal functions, including the police department, emergency services, Parks and Recreation, Multimodal and Transit, and the library. His transition into city management reflects a career dedicated to public service, leadership, and strengthening the communities he serves. Bob began his law enforcement career in 1998 after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993, including a deployment to the Persian Gulf during the First Gulf War as well as Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. Over the course of his policing career, he advanced through a range of assignments before becoming Chief of Police. His professional development includes a degree in psychology from Mesa State University, a master's degree in organizational leadership from Colorado State University, participation in the FBI National Academy in 2018, and executive leadership training through the Senior Management Institute for Police. Throughout his career, Bob has remained actively engaged in leadership and professional organizations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police Mid-Size Agency Council, where he represented 10 states, as well as the IACP Crime Prevention Committee, Colorado Veterans Leading Government, and the Colorado City/County Management Association. He credits mentors who recognized his potential, his family's longstanding tradition of military service, and perseverance through challenges as important influences on his career. Today, he continues to bring his experience in law enforcement, emergency management, organizational leadership, and public administration to his broader role in municipal government.
