Anthony Pignataro has dedicated 33 years to law enforcement, beginning with the NYPD in 1991 where he served until 2013 as sergeant of the Special Victim Squad in Queens County. After retiring from the NYPD, he joined the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs as a criminal investigator for approximately eight years. He later worked in private security as an armed supervisor for Allied Universal at a large office complex before transitioning in April 2023 to his current role as an investigator in the DA's office, supporting the violent crimes bureau with extraditions, protection for prosecutors, evidence handling, witness location, and review of wire case transcripts. Pignataro earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from John Jay College at the City University of New York in 1991. His specialized training includes dignitary protection, and he has experience in narcotic enforcement and wire cases. He maintains memberships in ASIS, the Knights of Columbus, and the Ironside Motorcycle Club. Pignataro attributes his success to being reliable and values commitment, attention to detail, and integrity in his work.

    Given the current climate in New York, I would not advise anyone to enter the field right now.

    The biggest challenge is public perception that does not match reality. The greatest opportunity is knowledge of cybercrime, fraud, and social media investigations, requiring computer savvy.
