About

A Multidimensional Executive Leader

Alton “AJ” Jones Jr., J.D., M.A., B.A.A.S., is an accomplished executive leader, entrepreneur, inventor, educator, and nonprofit executive based in Katy, Texas. With more than 15 years of leadership experience, he has built a multidimensional career spanning insurance, financial services, franchise operations, hospitality, retail, risk management, training, legal affairs, and organizational development. Known for turning ambitious ideas into disciplined execution, AJ brings together strategic vision, operational expertise, and a strong commitment to service.

Insurance, Claims, and Enterprise Risk Leadership

His corporate career includes senior-level catastrophe and commercial claims leadership with State Farm and catastrophe property claims work with Allstate. At State Farm, he managed complex commercial, business interruption, liability, and catastrophe losses, maintained high-volume inventories, collaborated with engineers, forensic accountants, attorneys, contractors, and executive stakeholders, and trained or mentored more than 20 adjusters. Earlier, he helped guide America’s Best Tax Services as it expanded from one office to approximately 40 franchise locations, strengthening operations, compliance, contracts, internal controls, vendor relationships, and franchise support.

Operational Growth and Transformation

AJ’s leadership foundation also includes a decade as Operations Manager and Compliance & Risk Director for America’s Best Tax Services. During the company’s growth from one office to approximately 40 franchise locations, he led strategic planning, operational integration, governance, compliance, internal controls, contract administration, franchise support, vendor management, training, budgeting, readiness planning, and performance analysis. His work reflects an ability to build scalable systems, establish accountability, and convert complex operational information into clear executive action.

Entrepreneurship and Brand Building

AJ’s entrepreneurial portfolio demonstrates both creative range and operational discipline. As Founder, Owner, and Digital Operations Leader of America’s Best Cowboy Hats, he directs e-commerce strategy, sourcing, pricing, sales, inventory, fulfillment, customer acquisition, vendor relationships, and brand development. He previously founded and operated America’s Best Air Fried Chicken Food Truck, where he oversaw budgeting, staffing, purchasing, safety, quality, customer experience, and profitability. The business generated approximately $540,000 in annual revenue, demonstrating his ability to build and manage a customer-facing enterprise from the ground up.

Hospitality, Culture, and Community

As Chief Operations Officer of Melanin & Maple Soul Food and Pancake House LLC, AJ guides operations strategy, business infrastructure, vendor coordination, compliance planning, launch readiness, customer experience, inventory controls, training priorities, and expansion-ready systems. The heritage-inspired, pork-free, kosher-inspired restaurant concept is designed to combine culinary excellence, cultural storytelling, hospitality, and community engagement into a memorable destination experience.

Innovation and Product Development

As the inventor and product concept developer behind ColdVault by AJ™, AJ applies market awareness, problem solving, product strategy, commercialization planning, and scalable positioning to an innovative cooling concept. The venture reflects his consistent approach to entrepreneurship: recognize a practical need, develop a differentiated solution, and build the operational pathway needed to bring the idea forward.

Mission-Driven Leadership

AJ serves as Executive Director of Service Members Intervention Programs, Inc., providing strategic oversight for a mission-focused nonprofit. His responsibilities include strengthening governance, partnerships, accountability, resource coordination, community engagement, digital communications, fundraising technology, website operations, and sustainable organizational development. His nonprofit leadership reflects a commitment to building credible, durable systems that advance service and community impact.

Education and Professional Credentials

AJ holds a Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, a Master of Administration from Lamar University, and a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Education from Lamar University. His additional graduate studies include finance, business administration, budget management, strategic planning, organizational leadership, educational leadership, and MBA coursework.
